Now Blue Monday is done and dusted, it’s time to focus on some positives that’ll cheer us up over the course of the next year. It’s easier to feel happier and more motivated when you have some things in mind to look forward to, so let’s get started!
1. American Crime Story
We blame Netflix’s Making a Murderer on kickstarting our obsession with documentaries and TV shows based on crime. After the success of The People vs OJ Simpson, American Crime Story is back with its next series: The Assassination of Gianni Versace – an incident that rocked the fashion world. Penelope Cruz stars as Donatella, Édgar Ramirez as Gianni and Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan.
2. The Royal Wedding
If you didn’t know about this one, where’ve you been?! This will without a doubt be the wedding of the year and after seeing Meghan’s killer outfits on recent royal visits, we can’t wait to see which wedding dress designer she chooses for her big day. Speaking of royals…
3. A Royal Baby
Another Prince or Princess to fawn over! We’re secretly hoping that Wills and Kate give the future fifth in line to the throne our name so we have boasting rights.
4. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
The beautiful Lily James has joined the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and Julie Walters as part of the new Mamma Mia film; donning a pair of gogo boots in the process. Another new face is the Cher – Meryl Streep and Cher on the same screen, what’s not to love?
5. The first female Doctor
The FIRST female Doctor Who is about to hit our screens with none other than the fabulous Jodie Whittaker stepping into the role, and we for one cannot wait. Alongside Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde; we’re all for a female heroine.
6. The Winter Olympics
For your inner sportsfan: the Winter Olympics is taking place next month in Pyeongchang, South Korea! A time for the world to come together and compete for first place in events such as alpine skiing, figure skating and the bobsleigh. There’s nothing wrong with a little healthy competition (as long as we come out with a few gold medals!).
7. We’ll be ‘Freed’ from Fifty Shades
It’s going to be bad, we know – but thats why we love it! It’s a little over a month until we get to see what’s in store for Ana and Christian. Despite us always going on about how bad the books are, you can guarantee we’ll be there opening night with the biggest box of popcorn. See you there!
8. Taylor Swift is coming to the UK
Love her or hate her, Tay Tay sure knows how to keep people talkin’. Whether you’ll be front row screaming along to her number 1 hits or rolling your eyes at anyone who mentions her name; we bet you’ll be keeping an eye on her to see if she brings out her A-list pals like she did during her last tour. We think it’s safe to say a certain family from the next point won’t be invited…
9. We’re getting more Kardashians to ‘keep up’ with
Babies babies babies! I mean, we’re not totally sure how many there will be or if Kylie’s definitely pregnant (we’re convinced she is but she hasn’t actually confirmed it…). We can’t wait to hear what the newest members of the clan are called; with names such as North, Saint and Reign – the Kardashian’s aren’t ones for traditional names!
10. Beyonce at Coachella
She was due to perform at Coachella last year but had to postpone her performance after getting knocked up with twins, Rumi and Sir Carter. So Queen Bey is making her return to the stage at this year’s festival instead so keep your eyes on Coachella’s MainStage come April.
11. Something ‘Incredible’
Last but definitely not least, one of our fave Disney Pixar films is returning to the big screen after 14 years (Yes, 14!). The highly anticipated ‘Incredibles 2’ is set to blast onto our screens in June, move over children – we’ve been waiting over a decade for this!
